SMS boys sweep top four spots

It was another great day for the Summit Middle School racers at Ski Cooper last weekend, as the boys swept the top four spots in both races to win by a wide margin. Mathias Krainz, Matt Truesdell, Paul McSparin and Grant Petersen finished in that order in both races. They were followed by fellow Tiger medal winners Ian King (seventh, seventh); Matty Baldwin (eighth, ninth); Drew Petersen (ninth, 13th); Kyle Schwab (10th, 14th); and Michael Daniels (11th). The Lake County girls dominated with a 2-3-4 finish to win their home race. However, Madeline Hayes led three Summit racers in taking home ribbons. In addition to Hayes’ two eighth-place finishes, Sarah Johnson brought home an 11th- and 13th-place ribbon and Nikki Denkinger bagged 11th place in the second race. The girls finished fourth by two points to Nederland’s ladies. Next up for the Tigers is a slalom hosted by Vail Mountain School at Ski Cooper on Jan. 27.
