SOS Snowboard Series continues at Breck this weekend

BRECKENRIDGE – The Ride SOS Snowboard Series, the United States’ largest amateur snowboarding series, continues this weekend at Breckenridge. Come and test your skills against the best snowboarders around and help support the programs of the Snowboard Outreach Society. Slopestyle competitions will be held at Breckenridge’s Gold King Terrain Park on Peak 9 Saturday, and then halfpipe will be held on Sunday in the Gold King Half Pipe. The 17-event United States of America Snowboarding Association (USASA) series travels to Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Breckenridge and Steamboat Springs.”We have had an incredible season with some amazing athletes, the talent has just blown my mind,” said Katie Brauer, SOS event director, “We would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting SOS and its programs.”As an added bonus to Sunday’s halfpipe competitions, Wahoo’s Fish Tacos – a sponsor of the SOS Outreach Series – will be providing tasty burritos for all competitors, free of charge.Competitors can register online at Registration for the weekend’s final events will be held at The Maggie from 7:30-9 a.m. There is a $25 competition fee, and a one-time annual USASA membership fee of $60. One-day lift tickets will be available for those competitors without season passes for $35 at Breckenridge.Skiers, not just snowboarders, can also compete in halfpipe and slopestyle events. Competition winners will be on their way to qualifying for the USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain, April 2-9. The events are held to raise money for SOS’ programs serving youth with risk factors in their lives. SOS’ 11th anniversary season starts with having taught more than 10,000 under-served youth values such as courage, discipline, integrity, wisdom and compassion through the sport of snowboarding.
