AURORA” Once again, the Summit County 10-11-year-old All-Star team fell victim to a squad from the Front Range.

Summit was eliminated from the Colorado State Tournament Sunday by Academy Little League from Colorado Springs, falling 14-1 for their second loss in the double elimination tournament.

Summit head coach Dave Newkirk believed that the game could have been much closer than the score indicated and that his team gained a lot of experience through their last two games.

“I am real proud of the boys,” Newkirk said. “They played as a team and

never quit.

“This was good for them to see a whole ‘nother level of play than what they are used to. They now know what it takes to compete in the state tournament.”

Some highlights for the All-Stars was a solid pitching performance by Storm Walker and some defensive wizardry by Thomas Debonville. Ben Hall also slugged two hits for Summit on Sunday.
