Summit Cup finale set for Saturday at Copper

The final Summit Cup event of the season will take place this Saturday on the “MOZ” at Copper Mountain. This will be a parent-child event; the winning team will be the fasted combined time of the athlete and parent. Approximately 100 racers aged 6-14 are expected to attend this event. There will be a free barbeque to follow. Overall season and individual awards/prizes will be given. Prior events for the 2005-2006 season included a giant slalom race at Breckenridge, a moguls competition at Arapahoe Basin and a slalom race at Copper Mountain. Summit Cups have been around for approximately 25 years. The idea behind these events is to provide a free race series for kids and to help promote the sports of ski racing and freestyle skiing. This is made possible by generous donations from the Summit Foundation and the local resorts: Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin and Keystone. For more information on the Summit Cup series, or to get involved, call Team Summit at (970) 968-2318, ext. 40010.
