Despite two goals each from senior Bri Barto and sophomore Noelle Herick, the Summit High girls’ lacrosse team lost 8-7 Thursday at Evergreen High School.

“It was a tough game,” SHS head coach Kristen Elliott said.

The Tigers also received goals from seniors Jacline Limone and Hayley Colvin and sophomore Ivey Marshall.

Although, Summit simply couldn’t find the back of the net enough to earn the win.

“We still need to work on passing the ball upfield and our shot placement. That’s something we’ve been working on a lot, but it just needs to get better,” Elliott said.

Summit did get some stellar goaltending from freshman Chelsea Christianson, who came up with some timely saves in the narrow defeat.

“She had a great game and really stepped up for us,” her coach said.

The loss is the second straight for the Tigers, after the team fell 17-4 against Colorado Academy on Tuesday.

The Tigers (4-3) don’t compete again until after spring break, when they resume play with a game at Aspen. They also have two other games that week.

“We’ll have some time off, and hopefully come right back and play well,” Elliott said.
