Four players had multiple-goal games, goaltender Chelsea Christianson helped anchor the defense, and the Summit High girls’ lacrosse team continued its march to a league title with a 15-5 win at Battle Mountain on Tuesday.

“We played pretty well, but there are still a few things we need to get better with,” SHS head coach Kristin Elliott said of her team. “But it was an all-around good team effort. From the attack to the defenders, everyone was playing well.”

The Tigers received three goals apiece from seniors Bri Barto and Katy Aceto as well as sophomore Haley Anderson. Senior Michelle Warpecha added two goals for the Tigers.

Summit controlled the game from the beginning, and Battle Mountain never caught up.

Jaclin Limone, Cody Seaboldt, Kelly Joyce and Ivy Marshall also scored for the Tigers.

Now, Summit can wrap up the league title with wins in the next week over Fruita-Monument and Grand Junction. A title would ensure the Tigers a spot in the state playoffs.

Summit (9-3) plays host to Fruita-Monument on Thursday at The Mine, with a 4 p.m. start time. The Tigers then wrap up the season with a pair of home games next week against Grand Junction (Tuesday, 4 p.m.) and St. Mary’s Academy (May 6, 4 p.m.).
