Summit High Athlete of the Week: Julie Wallace

She’s co-captain of the volleyball team with Emily Baker and she also loves rugby and tennis. She also gets to go to Wai Ki Ki with her family every few years. She can remember what she was doing when she was four, but can’t remember how she got started in volleyball.

What got you into volleyball? “I can’t remember. I wasn’t playing a fall sport in middle school so I thought it would be fun to try.”

What’s your favorite sports moment? “Walking into (4A volleyball) state last year at the convention center.”

What’s your first sports memory? “My dance recital when I was about four, and I fell.”

Describe what it feels like to finish a kill? “It feels awesome, like an adrenaline rush.”

What are your personal goals this year? “To play my best.”

What are the team goals? “Make it is as far as we can and hopefully go to state.”

Favorite class? “Math.”

Favorite food? “Vegetarian lasagna.”

Favorite tv show? “Gilmore Girls.”

Favorite team? “Colorado Avalanche.”

Favorite book? “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

After graduation, if you could pick one place to live, where would it be? “In upstate New York, because it’s a lot like here but it’s on the ocean as well.”
