He scores goals like Diego Maradona, and even wants his hair. But the junior soccer star has more on his mind than just scoring goals. He wants to learn English well and, when he can, chow up some lasagna.

Meet Kevin Pelen:

What got you into soccer? “My whole family enjoys it. I like to play.”

What’s your favorite sports moment? “When I score. Every single one is enjoyable.”

Is it hard to communicate with the teammates? “No.”

What’s your first sports memory? “The ball was bigger than me.”

Describe what it feels like to score a goal? “Crazy, but I don’t do anything (to celebrate).”

What are your personal goals this year? “I want to learn English really well. I want to make the finals in soccer and make the championships.”

What are the team goals? “We want to be champions and go to the finals and do better than we did last year.”

Favorite class? “Espanol.”

Favorite food? “Lasagna.”

Favorite show? “Soccer.”

Favorite soccer team? “Real Madrid.”

Favorite book? “The book about Diego Maradona.”

Do you want his hair? “Yeah.”

After graduation, if you could pick one place to live, where would it be? “Miami. The beaches.”
