Summit High baseball goes down 25-2
GOLDEN – For half an innning, Summit High School’s baseball team led one of the top teams in the state Saturday. Then came the bottom half of the first, and Golden scored 14 runs to erase any hope the Tigers had of an upset.By the time the game was called after five innings, the host Demons had beaten Summit 25-2, dropping the Tigers to 1-13 overall, 0-7 in the 4A Jeffco League.”It was ugly,” SHS co-coach Gary Green said.Sean Linfield and Josh Kroening scored Summit’s only two runs, after each player singled and made something happen on the bases.Scott Campbell and Shadoe Amaya knocked in a run apiece, both coming on a fielder’s choice.Taylor Mack took the loss, pitching two-thirds of an inning.Summit has lost 11 in a row, but finally it looks like the Tigers will get to perform at home.
