Summit’s Dax Kellie broke a 2-2 tie in the second overtime, when he knocked in a rebound from a few yards out to give the Tiger soccer team its first win of the season, a 3-2 victory at Alameda Friday.

“It was a good, emotional win for us,” SHS head coach Matt Zeiset said.

After being shut out in the Tigers’ first two matches this season, Summit received two goals from senior Shamus O’Neill before Kellie knocked in the deciding goal in overtime.

“We started well, knocking the ball around early and dominating some of the possession,” Zeiset said.

Alameda stuck first in the game, however, off a corner kick early in the first half.

The Tigers answered, though, when Kellie put a header on goal off a corner kick. After the Alameda goalie deflected the shot away from the goal, O’Neill was there to bury the rebound.

After Alameda took back the lead with 13 minutes left in regulation, O’Neill’s second goal on a header tied up the match.

After Kellie won the game for the Tigers in the second overtime, Summit had its first win of the season and moved to 1-0 in Jeffco League play.

The Tigers are back in action Monday with an away match at Denver Christian.
