Summit High track & field solid at Jeffco meet

The Summit High track and field team continued its torrid pace to the season with a strong showing in a Jeffco League meet on Thursday in Lakewood.The Tigers had a strong team effort – or rather, a strong showing by its relay teams. Seven Summit squads placed in the top-eight of their respective races.The boys’ 800-meter relay team – consisting of Ridge Strickler, Curtis Dankof, Jesse Riotto and Ben Sloan – ran a combined time of 1 minute, 39.79 seconds to finish third. The same group of boys also finished fourth in the 400-meter relay.Dominick DiLallo, Michael McGarry, Dylan Harville and Nick Eliopoulos combined for a seventh-place showing in the 1,600-meter relay, and the 3,200-meter team (Liam Meirow, Wade Rosko, Tyler Shaw and Eliopoulos) finished in sixth.On the girls’ side, Katherine Pappas was third in the 3,200-meter run and eighth in the 1,600-meter run. Julia Hayes was sixth in the 1,600-meters.The 800 sprint medley team (Abby Akers, Alyssa Lewark, Davia Carr and Lily Weldon) finished eighth, while the same girls finished sixth in the 800-meter relay.Also, Taryn Spencer, Crystal Nichols, Maddy Hunt-Snyder and Weldon combined to finish fifth in the 400-meter relay.The Tigers are back in action April 5 with another league meet in Lakewood.
