On Saturday, a slew of Summit County hockey players will take the ice during intermission of the Colorado Avalanche’s game against the St. Louis Blues at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

The Summit Youth Hockey mite squad will take part in a scrimmage after the first period with 12 skaters and two goalies. Then during the second intermission, the team will have six skaters participate in a shootout.

“As you can imagine, this is a big deal for the kids and they are very excited to take part in this very special event,” said Mark Theriault of the Summit hockey mites.

The game is slated to start at 7 p.m.
