Summit Trail Running Series finale to be held today on Peak 8

After a nearly month-long hiatus, the Nike ACG Summit Trail Running Series wraps up a successfull summer of racing this afternoon, when it visits the Breckenridge Ski Area for the series finale.

The race starts and finishes at the base of Peak 8, and will include both a short and long course. The distances will be about 3.2 and 8 miles, respectively.For the long-course competitors, this race will determine the series champions. Going into today, division leaders are as follows: Women 19-and-under, Kate Chapman; Women 20-29, Jaime Falcon; Women 30-39, Kim Eytel; Women 40-49, Colleen Ihnken; Men 19-and-under, Patrick Neel; Men 20-29, Michael Robbert; Men 30-39, Paul Brett; Men 40-49, Bob Mayer; Men 50-plus, Larry Anderson.

For those wishing to register today for the race, registration starts at 5 p.m. at the base area and costs $20. All entry fees benefit the Friends of Breckenridge Trails.

This is the first year that Nike ACG has helped sponsor the series, joining a number of local sponsors that includes the Breckenridge Recreation Department. – Daily News staff report
