Summit’s girls ruggers tie Douglas in 100th match

DEVON O'NEIL

The Summit Tigers U19 girls rugby club tied the 100th match in club history Saturday afternoon, knotting Douglas County 10-10 on the road. Lea Taylor scored Summit’s only try, on what Tigers coach Karl Barth called “a beautiful run.” Kyle Armstrong accounted for Summit’s other five points, two coming on a conversion and the other three on a penalty kick. Barth said his team (2-1-1) should have beaten Douglas County, and that the tie was disappointing. “We definitely showed a month off, but I should have had us ready,” Barth said. Jozy Gessner, Bobby Bouchard and Stephany McDowell played well for Summit, which is ranked fifth in the latest First Division league standings.
