Bryce Evans

The Summit High girls’ swimming and diving team finished seventh Tuesday at the 4A Jeffco League relay meet at the Meyers Pool in Denver.

The Tigers, swimming for the third time in six days rattled off three sixth-place finishes and came in second in the diving competition.

“I think they’re a little tired,” SHS head coach Jenny Wischmeyer said. “But it was a fun meet, and they did really well.”

The Tigers swam in nine relays in a meet that included all of the Jeffco 4A and 5A teams.

The top performance of the night for Summit came in the diving relay event, where each school had two divers compete for a combined score. Senior Gabi Ketzenbarger and junior Rachel Lawlis each took three dives for a combined total of 144.45.

Dani Langevin, Katie Lowe, Katie Cochran and Katy Andrews combined for a sixth-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:32.53.

In the 400 IM relay – where competitors have to each swim an individual 100 IM – Summit finished in a time of 5:30.32 with Lowe, Katie Peoples, Langevin and Olya Aden competing.

And the 400 freestyle team (Rachel Walter, Lisa Evans, Malory Donahue and Aden) was also sixth with a time of 5:12.73.

The Tigers don’t have much time to rest before getting back in the pool for a home meet Thursday at 5 p.m.
