Tiger baseball loses to Eagle Valley

Despite some strong hitting, the Summit High baseball team lost Saturday at Eagle Valley High School.

The Tigers had six hits but weren’t able to keep pace with Eagle Valley in the 12-4 loss.

“We seem to give up one big inning a game and that puts the separation between us,” SHS head coach Tom Looby said.

And that’s what happened Saturday.

The Tigers did get two hits apiece from sophomores Blaze Walker and Jason Looby, who both went 2-4 in the contest.

Looby, junior Cody Holland and sophomore Gabe Stuhr each had a double in the game.

Meanwhile, junior Michael Leopold had a strong game in the outfield for Summit, coach Looby said.

“We still need to tighten up our defense some more and avoid those big innings,” Looby said.

The Tigers (1-6) play again on Tuesday with a road game at All Star Park in Denver against Englewood. The game is slated to start at 3:30 p.m.
