Tiger girls eke out comeback win at Evergreen

Simply put, the Tiger girls’ lacrosse squad is a second-half team.

Trailing 8-4 at halftime and by two with less than two minutes left, Summit wouldn’t go down easily Tuesday at Evergreen. Actually, the Tigers wouldn’t go down at all.

A goal by Kates Raymond and two by Haley Anderson – including the game-winner in the final minute -propelled the Tigers to a dramatic, come-from-behind 12-11 win.

“We played really great,” SHS head coach Kristen Elliott said. ” … We’re really pumped.

Elliott said a key in the Tiger comeback was the team’s ability to control the ball off faceoffs. Summit also dominated on ground balls.

Anderson finished the night with five goals. Kelly Joyce and Ivy Marshall each scored twice, and Emily Bilenduke, Chloe Dudick and Raymond also scored.

The Tigers (3-1) don’t have much time to celebrate the win, as they play host to St. Mary’s Academy today.

And Elliott hopes the Tigers keep their momentum.

“They’re going to be a good team,” the coach said. “We lost by one to them last year in the (state) playoffs, so we’d like to get a win.”

The game starts at 4.
