Tiger track & field takes top finishes

The Summit High track and field team had nine individual top-10 finishes Saturday on its way to an impressive showing in the Battle Mountain Invite.”We had some excellent performances at this meet,” SHS head coach Kristy McClain said. Three Tigers – Nick Adolph, Hannah Price and Diane Mastin – had personal best results in their respective field events in the meet.Adolph finished fourth in the triple jump after leaping 39 feet and 2 inches.In the high jump, Price hurdled a height of 4 feet and eight inches to finish in second place.And Mastin, tossed her personal record in the shot put. In the running events, the Tigers had seven high finishes in the meet.Julia Hayes was fourth in both the 800- and 1,600-meter runs, while Sydney Stein was eighth in the 800.In the 100-meter dash, Ridge Strickler finished in 12.21 seconds, good for fifth place.Then, three boys’ relay squads finished inside the top-six: The 4×200 team of Curtis Dankof, Chris Braun, Strickler and Ivan Flores was fourth with a time of 1:38.8; the 4×400 team (Adolph, Taylor Colvin, Alex Sleep and Braun) was sixth at 4:00.36; and the 4×800 squad (Sam Provorse, Brandon Gregory, Colvin and Clint Sawyer) was also sixth with a time of 9:44.13.The Tigers have the rest of this week to prepare for the 4A Jeffco League Championships, taking place on Saturday at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood.
