Tigers compete in State track and field competition

The girls track and field team for Summit High School placed 21st out of 73 teams participating in the 2015 CHSAA Class 4A State Championships in Lakewood on Saturday, May 16. Junior McKenna Ramsay turned in the strongest performance of the meet for the Tigers placing fourth in the 400 meter race with a time of 56.83 seconds, less than four seconds behind the race winner, senior Nicole Montgomery from Lewis-Palmer High School. Ramsay also placed fourth in the 800 meter race with a time of 2 minutes 15.53 seconds.

Junior Ruthie Boyd came in 14th in the 3200 meters for the Tigers finishing in 11 minutes 48.66 seconds. The 4 x 800 relay team also finished the season well coming in eighth in the State competition. The boys track and field team did not place in the meet.

As spring sports finish up, local youth athletes will now turn to summer pursuits including the summer session for Summit Stix lacrosse team. Also, for the first time in Summit field hockey will be available with a club league provided by Altitude Field Hockey Club.
