FARMER’S KORNER – Summit High School swimming and diving dominated its invitational Saturday, as the Tigers trounced Aspen and Conifer in Farmer’s Korner.

And, after it was all over, the team threw the coaches in the pool.

“The water’s fine,” Tigers head coach Graig Fischer joked.

The meet offered state-bound Tasha Rosener a chance for an 11-dive meet, her first of the season. Most duals are six-dive meets, Fischer said.

Summit’s other state-bound swimmer, freshman Kylie Nilson, showed why she’s already become an important member of the varsity. Nilson won the 500-yard freestyle by 39 seconds and, a few minutes later, anchored the 200 freestyle relay team to a second-place finish.

“I just swim and let everything else happen,” Nilson said.

Summit scored 507 points to Conifer’s 354 and Aspen’s 154.

“I think we swam well enough to win,” Fischer said. “What I liked was, Caitlin (Schmidt) didn’t have a very good 50 swim, and she came back and swam strong in the 100.”

Summit winners included the 200 medley relay (Gabbi Thomas, Brittany Ellsworth, Nilson, Schmidt), 1-meter diving (Rosener), 100 freestyle (Schmidt), 500 freestyle (Nilson), 100 breastroke (Ellsworth), and the 400 freestyle relay (Courtney Stoffel, Mallory Kaufman, Jessica Lewark and Amy Clark).

The Tigers split squads next weekend and head to Columbine and the Husky Invite.
