Tigers gymnasts finish third

Daily Staff Reports

ARVADA – Kira Breitholtz placed second in the beam competition at Summit High School’s gymnastics meet in Arvada Saturday morning. The Tigers finished third in the match against 5A Arvada West and 5A Green Mountain, each ranked in the top 10 in Colorado.

“We held our own against (5A teams),” head coach Beth Flaherty said. “While our team score only improved two points from last meet, the girls had a much stronger showing.”

Flaherty also found herself impressed with her team’s focus. “(It’s) 100 percent better.”

Claudia Bouvier placed sixth in vault while Breiholtz set a personal best on bars. Bouvier led the team in the overall, while Lindbloom came in second among the Tigers.

The J.V. team beat Green Mountain to finish the meet in second.

The gymnastics team heads to Conifer on Sept. 12 to compete at 6 p.m.
