GLENDALE – Brie Barto scored a try and kicked three conversions in the Summit High School girls rugby club’s 43-0 demolition of Regis Saturday at Infinity Park in Glendale.”Brie played great,” SHS coach Karl Barth said. “She’s the only (Tiger) who played the whole game.”Barth took advantage of the lopsided situation by using 35 players (JV included) as Summit improved to 6-1.Other Summit scorers included Lauren Danielsen (two tries and one conversion), Alison Johnston (two tries), Brittany Morgan and Alex Copper (one try apiece).Johnston was allowed to play after Barth appealed a red card she was assessed in last week’s game against Douglas County.Johnston was carded that game because she committed Summit’s second high tackle of the game. The referee made an error, however – the same player, not the same team, must commit two such penalties in order to warrant a red card. The Tigers, who played what Barth described as the curtain raiser before Glendale hosted St. Louis in a Western Women’s Super League match, plays Highlands Ranch Saturday. The contest was originally scheduled to be played at Douglas County High, but it will most likely played in Summit due to a field conflict, Barth said.
