Summit County, Colorado
In its first games of the season – and first time on a baseball diamond – the Summit High baseball team split a doubleheader at Thomas Jefferson High School on Saturday.
The Tigers didn’t show much rust in an opening 7-2 win, as sophomore Blaze Walker threw a complete game from the mound with 10 strikeouts and only four hits.
Walker also helped the offense with some timely hitting in the game.
Cody Holland, Michael Leopold and Wolf Virostek also had hits for Summit.
In Game 2, the Jefferson offense exploded, scoring 16 runs for a nine-run win.
Tucker Limbruner, Walker and Holland each had two hits in the losing effort.
“All in all, it was a pretty good day and pretty good start to the season,” SHS head coach Tom Looby said.
The Tigers (1-1) are back in action Saturday when they travel to take on Clear Creek at 11 a.m.
