Tigers take 5th at Leagues

ENGLEWOOD – The Summit High School girls swim and dive team came up just short of its goal of fourth place at the league championship swim meet in Englewood on Saturday, finishing fifth behind Evergreen.”Evergreen just beat us out on the last few events of the night,” Summit coach Laura Graf said. “I’m really proud of our girls.”Graf said the top three teams, D’Evelyn, Ralston Valley and Golden, were much better than the rest of the 18-team Jeffco league.Several Summit swimmers and divers finished in the top eight (the finals heat), including Jessica Lewark (sixth, 200-yard freestyle), Kylie Nilson (seventh, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle), Shauna Neely (fourth, diving) Rachel Bergstrom (seventh, diving), Mallory Kaufman (seventh, 100 butterfly), Courtney Stoffel (eighth, backstroke), the 400 freestyle relay team (sixth), the 200 freestyle relay team (fifth), and the 200 medley relay team (sixth).One meet remains for Nilson, Summit’s lone state qualifier.
