Tigers win tournament, finish second in league

FARMER’S KORNER – Summit High School golf won its second Class 4A Jeffco League tournament of the season Wednesday at The Heritage at Westmoor.

The Tigers, led by Jake Dolack’s 80, tackled the tough and windy course and secured second place overall in the league. Ralston Valley won the league.

“Obviously, we wanted first. But we’re happy with second,” head coach Chris Saunders said. “The guys played well.”

Jason Chrobak fired an 82 for the Tigers, while Philip Camillo (88), Ethan Wolach (90) and Eric Nilsson (90) also aided Summit’s win.

Chrobak and Dolack were also named first-team all conference, while Wolach and Nilsson earned second-team honors.

Chrobak’s score was helped by a chip-in on No. 7.

“It wasn’t supposed to go in,” Chrobak said. “The only reason I made it was because it hit the pin, going about Mach 1.”

Camillo also offered a highlight shot. On No. 4, he hit a 9-iron 150 yards to two feet and made the birdie putt.

Dolack, meanwhile, continued his season-long consistent play.

“It was windy, so I tried to keep everything under the wind,” he said.

The Tigers head to the regionals at Wellshire Golf Course Sept. 18 at 8 a.m.
