After dominating the junior ranks for Team Summit all winter, local skiers Nicole Anderson and Conor McDonald now have a chance to make an impression on the U.S. Ski Team’s coaching staff. Both skiers were invited to participate in the national team’s Development Team Selection Camp in May.

McDonald will join other top male skiers at camps in both Park City, Utah, and in Bend, Oregon, next month, and Anderson will head to Mammoth Mountain, Calif., with the women.

“Going to these selection camps is a great opportunity for these athletes to train and compete with the best alpine skiers in the nation,” said Sylvan Kaufman, their coach with Team Summit. “This invitation is really a testament to how hard they have worked all season long.

“Nicole and Conor really deserve the chance to participate in the camp with the U.S. Ski Team.”

During the camps, both skiers will get a chance to go through workouts with team members and the U.S. coaching staff, working on everything from tactical skills to getting an equipment assessment.

Anderson and McDonald both had strong seasons. Anderson not only dominated for Summit High School but also qualified for the Rocky Mountain Division team that went to the J2 national championships in Maine. McDonald, meanwhile, had a slew of podium finishes and established himself among the best in the region, as well.
