The United States Olympic Committee wants to continue dialogue with the city of Denver and the state of Colorado about potentially becoming a U.S. candidate for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2030, or beyond.

The response to the USOC is being led by Denver Sports.

Rob Cohen, the chair of Denver and Colorado’s Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Exploratory Committee, said the information provided to the U.S. Olympic Committee will primarily come from the content included in the final report that the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Exploratory Committee provided to Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper in June.

That report is available online at: https://www.denver.org/explore-the-games/final-report/.

“The USOC’s current process,” Cohen wrote in a statement, “allows Denver and Colorado to highlight the Exploratory Committee’s recommendation that Denver and Colorado could, and should, pursue a privately funded Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2030 or beyond — and that any formal bid process should include a statewide vote of the people in the year 2020 or later, depending on which Winter Games the USOC decides to bid on.
