USASA regional halfpipe competition takes to Breckenridge

Breckenridge Ski Resort will host their final regional United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association (USASA) snowboard and freeski halfpipe competition of the season Sunday in the Freeway Terrain Park. The event will determine series winners for each age class. Winners will be eligible for the USASA nationals later this month at Copper Mountain Resort. Competitors are divided into age divisions 18 and under with an open entry for competitors over 18. Sunday’s competition is the third qualifier for nationals. The best two out of three contest results will be used to calculate point totals for the regional series championship in halfpipe. Event check-in will be in the T-Bar next to the gondola at the Peak 8 base area. Competition is scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m. with awards presented after at 3:30 p.m. The USASA is a grass-roots program that gives amateurs a chance to make a name for themselves and potentially move on to compete at the NorAm and World Cup level.
