VW sponsors free pet adoptions during Teva Mountain Games

VAIL” As part of this year’s Teva Mountain Games, all fees for pet adoptions at the Eagle Valley Humane Society will be covered by Volkswagen of America, Inc.

The deal is good through June 5.

“Every year that Volkswagen comes back to the Teva Mountain Games, we notice that people in the mountains are not only passionate about their sports but they also love their dogs,” said Jonathan Mobily, promotions specialist for Volkswagen of America.

“This year, we’ve got some fun Mountain Games doggie t-shirts to hand out, but we also wanted to add an element that has substantiation and thus we’re going to make the pet adoption process from the local animal shelter a little easier.”

All animals available for adoption can be visited at the Eagle County Animal Shelter in the Town of Eagle throughout the week.

Representatives from the Eagle Valley Humane Society will also be on site at the Teva Mountain Games from 1-4 p.m. Sunday for a special Pet Adopt-a-Thon.

“The Eagle Valley Humane Society volunteers are excited to participate in the Teva Mountain Games,” said Char Newman Quinn, program director for the Eagle Valley Humane Society. “This is an excellent opportunity to for us to adopt more homeless animals. A special thanks to Volkswagen for sponsoring adoption fees during this week!”

All dogs and cats must be spayed or neutered and vaccinated before they are considered to be adoptable from the Eagle County Animal Shelter. The $50 fee for cats or the $75 fee for dogs to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and licensed will be covered by Volkswagen.

Any person wishing to adopt an animal must be at least 17 years of age or older and adoptions are handled on a “first-come, first-served” basis. The Eagle Valley Humane Society provides six free obedience lessons with each dog adoption.

Also on Sunday, June 5, at 3:45 p.m., the Teva Mountain Games will host the third annual Dynamic Dog Competition. The obstacle course will be set up on Gore Creek Drive and will consist of a variety of challenges for pups of all abilities, sizes and breeds. Entry into the competition is just $10.
