Wanderlust yoga fest brings 1st ‘mindful tri’ to Fort Collins Aug. 27
You’ve never seen a triathlon like this.
On Aug. 27, the folks behind Wanderlust — the international yoga festival series with more than 25 stops in places like Colorado, California, Australia, Germany and more — introduce the very first “mindful triathlon” in Fort Collins. Dubbed Wanderlust 108, this take on a traditional triathlon takes place at Spring Canyon Community Park and begins with a 5K (or walk), followed by a 75-minute mass yoga class and guided meditation led by top teachers like Ana Forrest and Ashley Turner. The day also features performances from live bands and DJs, plus acro yoga, slacklining, hooping and other surprises, according to a release from Wanderlust.
Does “tri” still sound intimidating? It shouldn’t. This even is more of an active festival than a true triathlon, with plenty of time to rest, relax and rejuvinate between the three legs of the tri. Kids are more than welcome (no dogs though), and a slew of organic and natural food vendors will be on-site for lunch.
Things get started at 9 a.m. with the 5K and wrap up around 4 p.m. Tickets are $39 for the entire day or $20 for entry to the group yoga and meditation session. To register or find out more, see http://www.wanderlust.com and search under the “108 Events” tab for the Fort Collins stop.
