Youth lacrosse registration open

The Breckenridge Recreation Center’s youth lacrosse league is back for another season, and Linsey Kach, sports and special events coordinator for the rec center, said it’s shaping up to be a good year.

“Youth lacrosse continues to grow in Summit County,” she said, adding that two divisional wins by local youth teams in last year’s Warrior Brine Jamboree in Denver is proof of that. “Our coaches instill confidence in our players and help them develop lacrosse skills.”

As in the past, the program will offer a number of different opportunities for kids of all skill levels, ages 6-14.

Boy’s and girls’ middle school teams will play in a Denver-based league starting in April, as will a fourth- and fifth-grade team.

There is also an after-school program for kids 6-11 that begins in March.

Registration is under way, and the “early bird” rates for the middle school teams run through Saturday. For those who sign up before then, there is a $210-per-child cost. Between Sunday and Feb. 11 when registration closes, the fee is $240.

The after-school program is $125 per kid.
