Dillon residents have approved a change to the town charter that lowers the percentage of signatures petitioners need to bring a referendum petition.

The 270-88 vote in the Tuesday, Oct. 1, special election changes the town charter to be in line with Colorado state law, which requires 10% of registered voters in town to sign a petition for a referendum or recall. The Dillon Town Charter had previously required 15% of registered voters to sign the petition.
