CommonSpirit Health has opened grant applications for local nonprofits operating in its Mountain Region. 

According to a recent press release, these grants — which are part of the CommonSpirit Health Community Health Improvement Grants program — will “support the delivery of services vital to improving health and well-being and improving health equity.”

Organizations interested in applying for grants greater than $20,000 are required to work with partner organizations that will help them distribute services. Organizations applying for smaller grants are encouraged to have partners, but can apply alone. Grant proposals should help the nonprofit applicant better care for “identified underserved or vulnerable populations” or “address health inequities.” Ineligible proposals include infrastructural improvements, political advocacy or lobbying activities.

“We are intentional and focused in community outreach and programs to improve health and well being,” said Michael Bilton, CommonSpirit’s system director for community health and community benefit, in the press release. “It is important that our hospitals use resources in ways that help address demonstrated, locally-relevant health issues. The grant program is one way we put this into practice.”
