Dillon Reservoir

The winter season on Dillon Reservoir kicked off with the opening of the East Lake Loop. The groomed loops are open to walking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking. Immigrant students

On Jan. 21, the Trump administration rescinded a policy designating schools as “protected” or “sensitive” locations, which restricted actions that immigrant officials could take on school premises. Anticipating the change, the Summit School District Board of Education updated a policy aimed at protecting immigrant students on school grounds. The policy is supported by a Supreme Court decision that provides equal access to education regardless of a student’s immigration status.

Affordable housing

Breckenridge officials and staffers ramped up affordable housing initiatives in 2024, introducing 275 units through new construction and conversion programs — nearly triple that of 2023. The effort came with a more than $28 million price tag. The town will open its next workforce housing lottery from Feb. 10-16. La Voz de Summit will have more details on that in next week’s video.
