Multiple road closures, accidents as winter storm rolls into Summit County

6:38 p.m. update: Interstate 70 has reopened.

Dillon — The westbound lanes of Interstate 70 closed at mile marker 215 just west of the tunnel at about 6 p.m. Wednesday because of multiple spun-out vehicles, according to a tweet from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Drivers reported similar conditions in the eastbound lanes between Frisco and Dillon.

Dillon Dam Road also closed shortly after 6 p.m., according to a Summit County alert.

Summit County is under a winter weather advisory until 8 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast calls for heavy snow with an accumulation of 3-7 inches overnight.

The surrounding mountains could see 10 or more inches, according to OpenSnow meteorologist Joel Gratz.
