George “Woody” Woodward Bowers passed away on December 18, 2025 after a difficult battle with cancer.
Woody was born August 24, 1946 in Washington, D.C. to the late Chester and Margaret Bowers. After serving with the United States Navy, Woody worked for IBM in various capacities for 30 years starting in Providence, Rhode Island and culminating his career in Boulder, Colorado.
25 years of retirement were spent in Summit County enjoying all things Colorado; skiing, hiking, camping. His love of adventures also took him on long distance walks across the United Kingdom, skiing in Europe and rafting the Grand Canyon.
He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Bowers. Woody is survived by Janet, his loving wife of 40 years, his daughter Shannon Smith (Anson), granddaughters Sloan, Breck and Shea, and grandsons Vail and Kaleb.
