Nancy (Magnusson) Bjornstad passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born on May 12, 1936, in Broadway, Virginia, to Oscar and Ida Magnusson, Nancy was the eldest of three children and their only daughter. The family later moved from Danville, Virginia, to Colorado when Nancy was 10 years old. She attended school in Golden, graduating from Golden High School in 1954 before pursuing nursing studies at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

During her college years, Nancy met her future husband, Peer Bjornstad, during a skiing date. They were married in June 1955 and began their life together in Kokomo, Colorado, later moving to the town of Climax. After the town’s closure, they relocated to Frisco, where they raised their two daughters, Lisa and Kari, and later welcomed their son, Bjorn Erik.

Nancy and Peer shared a deep love for the outdoors and adventure. They spent many years training and racing sled dogs and built their family home between Frisco and Breckenridge, where they lived for 53 years. Together, they also developed a passion for sailing, owning several sailboats and participating in races and cruises across Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah, and on annual sailing trips to San Carlos, Mexico.

A gifted pianist, Nancy often shared her music during church services and community gatherings. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was an active member of both Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church in Dillon and Faith Lutheran Church in Buena Vista.

Following Peer’s passing, Nancy moved to Buena Vista to be closer to her daughters. She spent eight happy years there before moving into assisted living, where she remained surrounded by love and care until her passing.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Peer; sons-in-law, Joel and Joe; her parents; and her two brothers and grandson Erik Neal. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa and Kari; her son, Bjorn Erik (Linda); grandchildren Mandi, Aaron, Michael, Hilary, Step Grand Children Dana(Jesse), Derick, and Darren(Chelsea): great-grandchildren Peder, Ruth, Anna, Andrew, Henry, Nola, Clara, Nash, Jasper, Step Great Grand Children Jayden and David.

Nancy will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, adventurous spirit, and deep love for her family and faith. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held in early June 2026
