April 14, 1948 – November 11, 2024

Robert “Bobby” Bruce Starekow beloved father, husband, and friend died November 11th in his home in Ensenada Mexico. He was born April 14th, 1948, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and attended both the University of Minnesota and Arizona State University with the goal of following his own father into medicine. At the age of twenty-four, like so many others, Bobby landed in Summit County and never really left. He has since made an indelible mark on the community.

Like many in those years in the County, Bob shuffled through a number of careers; from an Arapahoe Basin liftie to tending bar at the Rathskeller. He and one Jimmy Shields eventually landed at the Snake River Saloon under the employ of Mickey Smith. From those humble beginnings, Bobby made a career in the restaurant business through seven restaurants and an induction into the Colorado Restaurant Association Hall of Fame.

He follows his late wife Marla into death and leaves behind his son Xander Starekow and his daughter-in-law Laura; as well as his wife, Dulce Maria and step children Javier, Luis, Fernanda, and grandson Alejandro as well as countless other cousins, family, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on December 8th in Frisco, Colorado.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
