Drawing inspiration from Mexico’s Noche de Candela and the Chinese Lunar New Year — celebrations meant to bring light in between the winter solstice and the spring equinox — Silverthorne’s First Friday for February will be a wish lantern festival on Feb. 7.
Decorating lanterns kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and lasts until 6:45 p.m. The lanterns will then be released to float down the Blue River at 7 p.m. There will also be salsa dancing lessons and live music from Remezcla from 5:30-7 p.m. and crafts with Frosted Flamingo at Enza’s Delicatessen & Market from 7-7:30 p.m.
