Town of Silverthorne awards $52,000 in scholarships to Summit High School seniors

The Town of Silverthorne awarded $52,000 in scholarships to 20 Summit High School graduating seniors at a scholarship night held Tuesday, March 31. 

The scholarships were funded through the Schmidt Scholarship, named for former Silverthorne Mayor Bill Schmidt, who served the town in the 1980s. Qualifying applicants must be residents of Silverthorne and either have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and are attending a four-year accredited school, or have a minimum 2.0 GPA and are attending a technical or trade school or earning an associate degree. Applicants were encouraged to demonstrate model citizenship, participation in school and community programs and an ability to succeed in their chosen career.

“We are excited for these young members of our community to make a difference in the world and can’t wait to see where their adventures take them in the years to come,” said outgoing Mayor Ann-Marie Sandquist in a news release.
