I moved to Summit County 22 years ago, have been a math teacher at Summit High School for the last 16 years and have two children who are students at Dillon Valley Elementary. As a longtime community member, educator and mother, I am writing to encourage you to vote for Vanessa Agee, Consuelo Redhorse, Julie Shapiro and Gayle Westerberg for Summit School District’s board of education.

They are a group of thoughtful, conscientious, collaborators who will make decisions that meet the diverse needs of our students and community. The policies that Redhorse and Shapiro, as part of our current board, have supported have made education more accessible to all my students. Agee is a longtime community member and civil servant who has worked on behalf of a variety of constituents to develop solutions. I am particularly thankful for Westerberg’s work in starting the dual-language program at Dillon Valley Elementary, a program in which both of my children and many children of our community are thriving.

This group of women understand the complexities of the current educational system and are willing to work together to develop policies that will benefit our students, staff and community. I support Vanessa Agee, Consuelo Redhorse, Julie Shapiro and Gayle Westerberg for Summit School District’s board of education and hope you will too!
