An article published in Summit Daily News in May titled “Water Managers Stress Conservation” in print focuses on water managers highlighting the recent drought. One provocative quote was “do you want to have green grass or do you want to have water in the rivers and water for the fish?” While conservation is important in a drought year, the green grass that consumes the most water isn’t in people’s yards. It’s in the fields. 90% of Colorado’s water is used for agriculture. Maybe it makes sense to focus on waste on that side of the water table ledger.
