Allison Moore is a reporter who joined the Summit Daily newsroom in March 2026 to cover real estate, education, business and all things Breckenridge and Silverthorne.
A lifelong Midwesterner, Allison received her bachelor’s degree with honors from Grinnell College in Iowa. Without a formal journalism program, she fell in love with reporting while working at — and eventually heading — the college’s student-run newspaper, The Scarlet & Black. She received several awards from the Iowa College Media Association.
Since graduating in 2024, Allison worked as a reporter for the Pulitzer Prize-winning local paper The Storm Lake Times Pilot and its sister paper, The Cherokee Chronicle Times, in Northwest Iowa. There, Allison covered everything from rodeo competitions to statewide immigration and environmental court cases. She also served as a board member on the Iowa Freedom of Information Council, a nonprofit coalition advocating for government transparency, public meetings and open records law. She most recently completed an investigative reporting project with the Iowa Newspaper Association on legislative efforts to alter statewide public meetings notices.
When not writing or rapaciously reading the news, Allison can usually be found cooking, hiking or telling her cat, Koda, to stop knocking items off the counter.
