Luke Vidic

Luke Vidic covers Frisco, Dillon and crime and public safety for the Summit Daily News. He came aboard in April 2022 after working as assistant editor for the Barton Chronicle in Orleans County, Vermont.

Luke grew up in State College, Pennsylvania, an aptly-named college town in the heart of the state. He studied English at the University of Vermont and participated in the school’s ground-breaking Community News Service. After graduating in May 2021 with an English major and German minor, he moved to Vermont’s quaint Northeast Kingdom to cover rural issues.

Working for small, local papers showed Luke the importance of reliable news to democracy. He believes accurate and steady information leads to sustainable communities.

An avid snowboarder, Luke chased bigger mountains throughout his life, leading him to Summit County. He can often be found on the slopes when snow is on the ground or traipsing up a mountain when summer comes around.
