Matt Hutcheson is the assistant editor of Summit Daily News. As assistant editor, he is deeply involved with the Summit Daily’s print products, including the daily paper and its magazines, and with the intricacies of the newspaper’s daily content output.

There, Hutcheson helped lead news coverage, edited stories for content and clarity, assisted with special projects including magazines, and wrote articles for the daily print edition.

Before that, Hutcheson served as editorial coordinator for the Luverne Journal, a weekly publication in Luverne, Alabama, from 2018 to 2020. He began his journalism career as a general assignment reporter for a newspaper in his hometown of Greenville, Alabama, in 2017.

He graduated from Troy University in Alabama in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in English and literature.

When off the job, Hutcheson enjoys hiking, camping, reading and movies, and he plans to become an expert skier when winter rolls around.
