Arapahoe Basin
Arapahoe Basin is advertised as the legend, and in Summit County, it’s the locals’ mountain.
The smallest ski area of the county’s four, A-Basin is fiercely loved, not only for its steep terrain and long season, but also for its old-fashioned, no-nonsense style.
This is the Basin’s first season with a full-fledged snowmaking system, and the ski area has entered the race to be the country’s first to open.
But spring is the high season at this area. With a season that traditionally runs through the Fourth of July and has lasted into August, the Basin is THE late-season skiing destination in Colorado. In addition to the abundant spring snow, the resort’s parking lot and base area become a picnicing scene affectionately known as “The Beach.” With live music, food and drink, the late-season months become a daily party.
