Chihuahua Gulch Road will be closed on weekdays for all uses beginning Monday, July 20, and ending Aug. 1.

The closure is due to public safety concerns stemming from crews using heavy machinery to repair “severe erosion” on the road. The road will still remain open on weekends due to its popularity with hikers and bicyclists, according to a recent press release from the U.S. Forest Service.

“Forest officials stress the importance of following the weekday closure both for public safety and so the work can be completed as efficiently as possible,” the release says.
