Climber rescued by helicopter after fall in Rocky Mountain National Park
On Sunday, Aug. 17, park rangers and the Colorado Army National Guard rescued a climber who took a roped fall on the south face of Petit Grepon on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park.
The climber was a 26-year-old male who sustained lower leg injuries from the fall, according to a news release from the park.
“With the help of his partner, the climber was able to rappel to the base of the route,” where park rangers provided medical care, the release stated.
A Colorado Army National Guard helicopter from Buckley Space Force Base assisted park rangers in extricating the man via a hoist operation at about 3 p.m. The Colorado Hoist Rescue Team also assisted.
The man was taken for further medical care, according to the release.
