Murder charge sought following shooting, lockdown in Blue River

The suspect arrested amid a homicide investigation at a home in Blue River on Monday, July 7, is now facing a preliminary murder charge, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Blue River resident Daniel J. DeVito, 46, was initially arrested on charges unrelated to the homicide investigation, but the Colorado Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday, July 9, obtained probable cause to arrest DeVito on a preliminary first-degree murder charge, according to a news release issued by the agency.
Summit County Coroner Amber Flenniken identified the sole victim in the incident as Jordan Elizabeth Labarre, 32, of Breckenridge.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday stated that DeVito was originally being held at the Summit County Detention Facility on multiple preliminary charges unrelated to the homicide, including assault in the first degree, menacing – deadly weapon, false imprisonment, criminal mischief and domestic violence.
On Monday, July 7, around 6:20 p.m., officers responded to a home on the 100 block of Aspen Meadows Circle in Blue River for a report of gunfire, according to the release from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Officers reportedly heard active gunfire coming from inside a home when they arrived on scene.

Officers ordered the occupant to come outside. DeVito reportedly complied and was taken into custody.
When officers entered the home, they located Labarre’s body.
DeVito is currently in custody at the Summit County Detention Facility without bond.
The Blue River Police Department and Colorado Bureau of Investigation are continuing to investigate with assistance from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Blue River Police Department at 970-547-0545, extension 2.
No additional information will be released at this time, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s news release.
A court hearing is set for 9 a.m. Thursday, July 10, in Summit County Court, division 0.
