National Weather Service issues winter storm warning and advisories for Colorado mountains with more than 1 foot expected in places
The winter storm warning and winter weather advisories include the Steamboat Springs area and Grand, Summit, Park and Clear Creek counties

The National Weather Service is warning of winter weather across Colorado’s mountains, including along the Interstate 70 mountain corridor, this weekend.
A winter storm warning will be in place from midnight Friday through 5 a.m. Sunday for Rabbit Ears Pass along U.S. Highway 40 near Steamboat Springs, where the heaviest snow accumulations are expected.
Between 8 and 18 inches are expected with wind gusts up to 55 mph and “travel could be very difficult to impossible,” according to the winter storm warning.
Meanwhile, a winter weather advisory is in place from 11 a.m. Saturday through 11 a.m. Sunday for parts of Grand, Summit, Park and Clear Creek Counties, including on mountain passes and at I-70’s Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels.
Between 4 and 12 inches with wind gusts up to 45 mph could make travel “very difficult,” according to the winter weather advisory.
For the rest of the mountain region, a hazardous weather outlook is in place warning of moderate snow from Saturday through Sunday morning.
